#Myst25

It’s the 25th Anniversary of Myst and (as we’re sure many of you already know) Cyan is celebrating in style. The #Myst25 Kickstarter has been live for less than two weeks and as of this writing they have met their goal more than five times over (almost six!), and they’re not even halfway through!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Cyan for all their hard work, not just in the creation of some of the most unforgettable experiences in gaming history, but also for their recent endeavours to safeguard those experiences for all of us to enjoy. We appreciate all that they do, and although they need no help from us, we’d like to do our part to spread the word. It goes without saying that our project (and the wonderful fans who support us) would not exist without Cyan, and we’re just as excited as you for a chance to support this latest release – which includes some very cool Riven-themed rewards.

If you haven’t already, head on over to the Kickstarter page and show them your support. There are also some community challenges that you can take part in, even if you’re not able to pledge.

In unrelated news, we’d also like to invite you to join the official Starry Expanse Project Discord server. If you’re not familiar, Discord is a popular communication tool for gaming communities, and hosts both voice and text messaging services.

If you’re interested in discussions of all things Myst, debates on the finer points of D’ni literacy, awful, awful puns, or would just like an opportunity to speak directly to members of the Starry Expanse team – we’d love to see you there!

Why isn’t Brazil in the list of Countries?

    • Nick Says:

Hey Jose, Cyan answers this question in the FAQ on the Kickstarter page.

“We are using Blackbox to take care of all of the physical reward fulfillment, and they ship almost everywhere… almost. There are several exceptions, and Brazil is one of them. Blackbox’s website states that there are numerous reasons shipping to Brazil is unsupported.”

    Dear Starry Expanse project people.
Did you try to ask Cyan if they are interested by working with you/helping you to finish realRiven and merge it to the collecion, now they are rich at million dollars ? Im sure thats everybody think about that.
Do you even try ? Please, ask them.

    • Ilia Shigin Says:

Riven remake would cost a few millions more. They’ll spend this money producing more artifacts for backers. And Cyan is too busy creating new worlds for us. They’re done with Myst.

    • Vincent KREBS Says:

Yes, this is exactly what I immediately thought. At one side, those millions for selling “Windows 10 compatible” versions which is quite a trivial and minimalist update to make and doesn’t cost them much, along with asking some Chinese factory to manufacture quite anecdotic objects, and at the other side, Starry Expanse’s wonderful realRiven project who would really need a few millions to accomplish their goal… And quite frankly, I must admit that I feel a little uncomfortable that Cyan didn’t mention Starry Expanse at all… 25 is the Riven number after all… Better give money for 3D Riven than for End of Ages…

I can’t wait until I can get my hand(s) on my own (nearly working) Myst Linking Book! The moment I saw that reward I knew that I had to have it.

    Discord server offline ?

So I check in here every few weeks to see your progress and have been doing so for a few years now! I really appreciate the shoutout to this Kickstarter! I was not aware and am now signed up! Super thanks for the tip and a keep up the good work you all are doing! I anxiously await your future greatness!

Have you guys considered using Kickstarter yourself? Or are you in good enough financial shape to see this through? I believe next year will be the 10th anniversary of Starry Expanse’s development.
