Come talk to us!
Still no awesome reward for reaching the funding goal, although this is pretty cool, too.
We’ve noticed an increase lately in discussion in the comments section on our posts, so we decided to look into alternative methods of discussion. We had a forum set up, but it was causing us all sorts of headaches. Instead, we found a service we like a lot, called Convore. It’s kind of like a hybrid between a forum and a chatroom, in that it’s live-updating, but it’s topic-based, like a forum. It’s very cool.
So come talk to us! You know you want to.

What? You mean you don’t LIKE reading our little string of comments?!?!?!? π
October 1st, 2011 at 12:16 am
Of course we do! That’s why we made a whole separate place for them π
October 1st, 2011 at 1:54 am
Oh, so now we’re not GOOD enough for your webpage? π
October 8th, 2011 at 3:55 pm
*sigh*
and still no funding reward.
October 10th, 2011 at 9:54 am
That must mean they are spending their time developing the game itself, or, having a life. Outrageous!
October 10th, 2011 at 3:35 pm
I agree! That is unacceptable! π
October 13th, 2011 at 12:24 am
Um, am I the only one who can’t access convore?
October 13th, 2011 at 1:03 am
Yep. Trololololololol!
Anyways. Just try clicking on the link again. That usually sorts it out for me when it says there’s an error.
October 14th, 2011 at 12:36 am
RRRGH! It… still… doesn’t… WORK!
October 16th, 2011 at 12:42 am
Okay, for some reason no matter how I do it, I can’t connect to convore.com without getting the ‘Oh Noes!’ error message. Any ideas?
October 16th, 2011 at 10:13 pm
After much experimenting, it seems that the solution is to go directly to a topic (e.g. convore.com/starryexpanse/bronies) and then it will work. If anyone else is having this problem.
October 16th, 2011 at 11:19 pm
I personally have no problems accessing the main topics page.
October 17th, 2011 at 7:38 pm
Trekluver has a question! Will you be remaking Ghen’s lab as one of the extras in the game? http://mrillustrated.com/rivnotin.php
October 17th, 2011 at 11:16 pm
I don’t think so. Where would they put such a big building without destroying what little canon there is left?
October 19th, 2011 at 2:49 pm
There’s places it could go. π Plus I believe it was meant to be on Age 233, which wouldn’t be that hard to place.
October 19th, 2011 at 11:46 pm
Wait, are you saying that that room was underground or something?
October 20th, 2011 at 2:42 am
I believe that the images of Gehns lab on the Riven Illustrated site, also found in From Myst to Riven (pg. 112) were the original designs for the Boiler Island lab that “went through major design overhauls due to changes in the story or character development”.
I think I can speak for the rest of the team when I say we don’t have any intention of recreating discarded concepts from the original. If they weren’t good enough for Cyan then, they aren’t good enough for us now.
October 20th, 2011 at 4:41 pm
I would determine that on a case-by-case basis – perhaps some things were left out by Cyan for financial or temporal reasons rather than qualitative?
October 20th, 2011 at 4:39 pm
Is a further indent possible?
October 20th, 2011 at 10:59 pm
Use Convore!
October 22nd, 2011 at 11:19 am
Let’s remove the blog comment functionality!
October 21st, 2011 at 1:29 am
I just stumbled on this project and HOLY CRAP! I HOPE YOU FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS!!
October 24th, 2011 at 1:31 pm
Indeed.
October 26th, 2011 at 8:00 am
Is there are secondary goal in terms of donations? Also, need updates. Even incomplete 3d wireframes, textures or just photos of you guys doing stuff – something, please?!
October 27th, 2011 at 5:40 am
There may be a secondary goal in the future. π *deftly avoids responding to second part of comment*
October 29th, 2011 at 10:59 pm
Like what? “if you want to see your updates again…”
October 30th, 2011 at 12:21 pm
Hmmm, I think after all that we have donated some kind of regular update feature would be a nice idea. Just helps to keep the enthusiasm alive…
October 30th, 2011 at 2:05 pm
Yes, that sure would be nice…
October 31st, 2011 at 12:58 am
Hey guys. Please keep in mind that we really do enjoy showing you our progress and getting your feedback, so if there is a lack of updates it is not because we are lazy, or think you don’t deserve it. It’s because there is a very good reason for the delay. This time of the year is one of the busiest for many team members (myself included, last few weeks of uni) so please bear with us a bit longer.
PR is a tricky bushiness, because if want to attract new team members, funding or support we need to be careful about the quality of our updates. We can’t just throw incomplete wireframes or textures on the site.
October 31st, 2011 at 12:58 am
PR is also a tricky business. In case anyone was confused there π

I haven’t stopped by in a while but I’ll leave you with this. MOULa is struggling right now. Donation levels are graded on the CAVCON scale (5 is best, 1 is BAD) and we are currently at 2! There has been all kinds of awareness parties, buy-a-thons, and pleas for donations. If you’d like to see Cyan’s Myst Online: Uru Live servers stay on then by all means visit mystonline.com/play now to donate! (Donate to the Starry Expanse too!)

I’ve finally figured out my problem with convore! For whatever reason, I can’t access convore.com or convore.com/starryexpanse when I’m logged in! But when I’m logged in, I can access them just fine! But for some reason, I think I only have this issue when I’m at home. Well, I can access those pages, but it gives me that dumb “oh noes!” message. Blah.

Just want to wish you well with the project and wanted to thank you for all your efforts so far.
February 21st, 2012 at 7:04 pm
Well, looks like Convore is shutting down. Any idea if you’ll have another place for us to chat?
